How to Set Up Recording Intelligence Templates
Written By:
Tiller Team

Every team has its own way of judging a good conversation. An SDR prospecting call is not a discovery call, and neither is a compliance review. Recording Intelligence templates let you tell Tiller what matters in each one, so every call and meeting is analysed the way you would do it yourself.
In this tutorial, we build a template from scratch and set it as the default.
What's in the tutorial
Where to find Recording Intelligence templates
Creating a template with a name and description
Building output sections, such as Top 3 Takeaways and Qualification
Writing instructions that control how each section is analysed
Sending a section to your CRM
Adding tracked fields, such as pricing discussed
Setting the tone and level of detail
Making your template the default for phone recordings
How to set up a Recording Intelligence template
Open your templates. Go to Settings, then Company Context, then Recording Intelligence Templates.
Create a new template. Select the option to create a new template.
Name it and add a description. The title is how the output will appear, so make it clear, for example "SDR Prospecting Calls". A short description helps your team know when to use it.
Add your first output section. The output sections are the core of the template. Add a section, give it a title such as "Top 3 takeaways", and write instructions telling Tiller what you want to see.
Send it to your CRM (optional). Choose whether a section should be sent to your CRM, so the summary lands where your team already works.
Add more sections. In the video we add a "Qualification" section and write exactly how the conversation should be assessed. Add as many sections as you need.
Set up tracked fields. Tracked fields pull out specific details from every call. We add "Pricing figures" so you can see exactly what was discussed.
Choose a tone. Pick the style of feedback, such as coachable or professional, and decide how much sales jargon to use. For quick feedback, keep it brief.
Create the template. Select Create Template to save it.
Make it your default (optional). Go to Recording, then Default Recording Intelligence. Under Phone Recordings, select your template, for example SDR Prospecting Call. From then on, every phone call is analysed with it automatically.
Tips for better templates
Write instructions the way you would brief a new manager reviewing the call.
Keep sections focused. One question per section gives clearer answers.
Use tracked fields for anything you would otherwise search for by hand, such as pricing, competitors or next steps.
Create a separate template for each call type, such as prospecting, discovery and renewal.
